Hannukah 2017

 Dasee hanukkah2

What is Hanukah and why should we care?

Hanukah honors YHWH’s salvation of Israel from political oppression and genocide some 160 years before the advent of Christ in Bethlehem. In the Christian tradition, we celebrate the birth of Christ in December 25 calling it “Christmas”. The two events are not related to each other directly, even though they both occur close to one another on our calendars. Hanukah is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. The history and traditions of Hanukah reflect spiritual images and principles that remain true throughout the New (Renewed) Covenant and they are worthy of our education and observance. This week long tradition is not a requirement for salvation. Jesus, our Messiah is the sole source for this blessing; He is the Light of the World. He is the Light of Genesis before Light was. He is the Eternal Revelation of God. The gift of the Holy Spirit is given by the Father because of the sacrifice and propitiation of Jesus; He is the ever burning and illuminating Life that lives within us as Christians. The Spiritual Symbols of Hanukah become more “Christian” than “Jewish” when we begin to understand what they are.

I invite you to take a look and see. Once you catch the revelation you will look forward to and celebrate this season in creative and traditional ways. We are grafted into Israel and it is easy, fitting and right to celebrate their deliverance with them from year to year. Take your liberty as you learn and celebrate the Joy of our salvation!

Hanukah Dates for 2017 are from Tuesday December 12 (Starts at Sundown) to Wednesday December 20.
